    • When Good Teams Avoid Hard Decisions

      Krasi Bozhinkova

Your team is smart, kind and well-behaved. So why does the product still lack direction? Krasi explores why well-behaved product teams still dodge the trade-offs that give a product its direction, and what you can do about it.

    • Great UX, but will customers pay?

      Dave Chiu

How offer design shapes customer behavior and business outcomes. We spend a lot of time designing better products and user experiences. But even a great product doesn’t guarantee that customers will buy it. What if the missing piece isn’t the product itself, but how we package, price and offer it? In this short interactive talk, Dave explores how different commercial decisions can influence customer perception, purchasing behavior and business outcomes. Using a simple experiment, he introduces a practical framework connecting value, offer design, customer behavior and business outcomes.

    • Prompt engineering for design implementation

      Izzati G. Hasan

In this talk, Izzati explores how prompt engineering and Agentic AI are reshaping design implementation. By leveraging workflows like the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to connect Figma directly with VS Code, she shows how designers can seamlessly translate their contextual knowledge into functional code. Beyond optimizing team operations, she highlights how mastering these tools fosters personal growth and empowers designers in the Agentic Era.

    • Privacy-First UX: Rethinking Product Design in a Data-Driven World

      Brandi Rose

In this talk, Brandi explores Privacy-First UX as a practical approach to designing digital products in an increasingly data-driven ecosystem. She will discuss how designers can rethink the role data plays in digital experiences and advocate for more intentional, privacy-conscious design decisions.

    • Designing with the Law

      Joeri Toet

In this talk, Joeri explores how legal obligations increasingly need to be operationalized in the tech stack and require design input. Beyond creating work, he shows how designers and product teams make a critical contribution to legal risk reduction and may derive a mandate to do some of their best work from the legal function.

    • User testing in emerging markets

      Dr Rendani Maarten Kruger

User testing is essential to ensuring that technology is usable for its intended users. Remote user testing platforms were mostly designed in Western countries and are not always suitable for participants in emerging markets, which are often mobile-first, with limited connectivity, lower-bandwidth devices and varying levels of digital access. As a result, the data collected may be skewed. Rendani shows how his team responds to this gap by developing a user testing tool specifically designed for emerging markets.

    • From Demo to Real Product: Designing Products in the Age of AI

      Yunjie Deng

As AI becomes part of everyday products, it is also quietly reshaping how we design. Design flows are no longer linear: ideas can start as speculative concepts, technical demos, or AI experiments. Yunjie explores how AI fits into different stages of the design process, through two projects: LiveHome, a conceptual exploration of interactive online concerts later rebuilt through Google AI Studio, and DemoDress.ai, an image-based commercial GenAI product. The talk approaches AI from both perspectives: how it supports designers during exploration, and how AI-powered products must be designed with clear guidance, workflows, and trust for users.

    • Dashboarding at Leiden University: the first steps towards a data-driven organisation

      Martijn de Jager

In this talk Martijn will share his experience in dashboarding data at Leiden University. Are we on route to make the university a more efficient, effective and adaptive organisation?

    • How bad insights from good research can kill your design ideas

      Slava Shestopalov

So, you’ve conducted research. Maybe user interviews or prototype testing. Now you have lots of “insights.” Or do you? The thing is, not everything you saw, heard, recorded, or wrote down is an actual insight. Some of it is dangerous to use, yet it hides under the guise of the “user’s voice.” What makes this even trickier today is the growing presence of GenAI features in UX tools — they can easily add another layer of bias if left unsupervised. In this talk, Slava shares his experience of distilling real UX insights from bias and buzz, inspired by his recent work on a B2B SaaS platform for worker safety and sustainability.

    • To becoming a space-faring species, we desperately need better software

      Kartik Kumar

Space is hot at the moment. Whether it's SpaceX launching Starlink satellites every few days, the James Webb Space Telescope beaming back stunning images of the cosmos, or a plethora of companies developing lunar landers and rovers, there's fascinating work being done all across the globe. And yet space engineers are still stuck with crappy software across the mission lifecycle. Space needs good software and improving UX is at the heart of the problem set. In this talk, Kartik tells the tale of building better UX for space engineers, the ups and downs, ins and outs, live from the battlefield.

    • Start Small: A Pragmatic Approach to Measuring UX

      Esther Wieringa

Starting to measure UX can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. In this talk, Esther shares how starting small can keep it manageable while also reaching meaningful results. She’ll show how she applied this approach herself. You’ll leave this talk with the right tools and courage to get started right away.

    • Designing Technology That Changes Behaviour

      María Pérez Latorre

In this talk, María explores how we can use principles from psychology to design technology that truly changes behaviour by understanding what drives people’s actions. She shares practical examples of both successful and failed cases, showing how design decisions can remove barriers, boost motivation, and help people make lasting changes in how they live, move, and take care of themselves.

She will discuss the challenges and opportunities unique to healthcare workflows, user research, and creating effective interfaces for both patients and administrators.

    • Driven by data: how do you apply a holistic perspective when developing interactions with data-driven technologies?

      Justin van Wijk

In this talk, Justin explores why designers should take a holistic view of the interactions between humans and the technology they help create. By analyzing an interaction from multiple perspectives, you better understand the context of the project you are working on and remain focused on your own actions and those of the client. Drawing from media psychology, AI interaction, and ethics, Justin shows how design choices carry impact — on users, on organizations, and on society as a whole.

    • Systems Thinking

      Matthijs Zwinderman
